Dachstein mountain station – an energy crystal

The mountain station on the Dachstein shines in new splendor: The Dachstein mountain station has been rebuilt and transformed into an “energy crystal”. Thanks to a photovoltaic system on three sides of the façade, up to 80 percent of the energy required for the mountain station is to be generated in-house. The new highlights include the restaurant with a 280-degree view plus bar and the new viewing attraction, the “Dachstein Sky Ladder”.

Salt world Hallstatt

7,000 years of salt mining in the World Heritage Site. During the daily guided tours through the Hallstatt Salt Worlds, you embark on a mysterious journey into the treasure chamber of mankind. An ancient yet modern world is hidden in tunnels and corridors. A miner’s slide, an underground salt lake and an exciting ride on the mine train are the highlights here. 45 minutes by car.

It has the largest monastery library in the world and superstars like Oprah Winfrey have visited it in recent years: the Benedictine monastery in Admont, just 40 minutes away by car.

Burg Strechau

Fort Strechau

The second largest castle in Styria sits enthroned on a rock above the town of Rottenmann. The castle complex is famous, among other things, because Archduke Johann and Anna Plochl secretly wanted to celebrate their wedding there. The plan was initially thwarted by the emperor. The castle is 25 minutes’ drive away and tours are available from May to October.

Castle Trautenfels

The nature and culture of the Enns Valley and Ausseerland are impressively presented in the museum of the baroque castle and in different showrooms. The exhibitions are open from April to October. 10 minutes away by car.
