On the way to becoming a climate-neutral organic hotel

  • Our 250 chickens provide our hotel with organic eggs. The barn and the adjacent meadow are located 300 metres from our kitchen as the crow flies. Every egg that you enjoy pure or in a dish with us comes from our hens.

  • Several beehives are located in the hotel’s own woodland and supply the hotel with the best honey. Tip: Pichlarner honey is also available to take home with you.

  • The mountain spring water for our hotel comes from a total of six of our own springs. Thanks to this water treasure, the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn is a “Best Water Hotel”. Together with BWT AG from Mondsee, we have decided to dispense with conventional mineral water bottles in our restaurants and to mineralize our own first-class water using state-of-the-art technology from BWT. This saves energy and packaging costs and is good for the carbon footprint thanks to lower transportation costs.

  • In order to process home-grown fruit in the long term, we have a meadow orchard with 60 fruit trees (apple, pear and plum) at the castle driveway. planted. During the selection process, particular care was taken to use a wide range of varieties.

  • The hotel’s own golf course is irrigated exclusively with rainwater thanks to the newly built storage pond. To preserve wildlife habitat, organic products are often used for golf course maintenance, and woodlands and nesting sites are protected. It is thanks to this gentle handling that you will meet many an animal inhabitant here: whether deer or brown hare, buzzard or squirrel, geese or swans – they all find sufficient retreat space here. The aim is to play a pioneering role in terms of sustainability.

  • We grow aromatic herbs, crunchy vegetables and fresh salads in our own greenhouse so that our restaurants are always supplied with freshly harvested produce. A fine “snack garden” with different types of berries is also planned in the castle park.

  • Thanks to the 460 kWp photovoltaic system, up to a quarter of the electricity is produced using solar energy.

  • In future, owner Georg Imlauer would like to use his own biomass from the hotel’s own forests for the district heating that is still required, which is obtained from the Irdning Biowärme farm.
