THE PLACE TO SHINE

JUNIOR SKILLS AUSTRIA 2022

After a 2-year “pandemic break”, the “Junior Skills Austria” tourism competition was held in Obertrum again this year. Young people from all over Austria compete against and with each other, with appreciation, fairness and respect as a sign of togetherness taking top priority.

Each federal state sends 3 representatives per area. The young talents in tourism demonstrated their skills during three days of competition in the following apprenticeships: chef, restaurant specialist, hotel and catering assistant, catering specialist and hotel management assistant. They cooked, served and held consultations with guests in front of an expert jury.

IMLAUER apprentices shine

Two apprentices from the IMLAUER companies achieved an impressive performance:

Lisa Pierer

(IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn)
won gold in the “Hotel and Catering Assistant” category and Julian Schertler (apprentice at the IMLAUER Hotel Pitter Salzburg) also took gold in the “Restaurant” category.

“We are very proud of our two apprentice winners and the fantastic competition. This has once again shown how much skill, commitment and enjoyment our young professionals put into their work. I would like to congratulate everyone on their participation and thank all the judges and those responsible at the vocational school for their great work,” said a delighted Georg Imlauer.

Satisfied employees are the secret to success

The IMLAUER Hotels & Restaurants businesses currently employ around 350 people and train around 40 apprentices, making them the largest tourism apprenticeship training provider in Salzburger Land.

In addition, a two-year diploma course for adults was launched this year at the “Tourismus Akademie Salzburg”. “As a hotelier, I see it as my duty to promote the training of young and adult people in tourism,” explains owner Georg Imlauer. The philosophy behind it: When guests and employees feel equally comfortable, that is the best basis for business success.
