Golf course – redefined

On the way to the Leading Course

A new dimension to the game of golf

The golf offer in Pichlarn shines in a completely new splendor after the extensive renovation of the golf course. In the years 2024 – 2025, we invested around 3 million euros in the redesign, expansion and qualitative development of our golf course.

With a clear goal: to consistently position the golf course at the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn on the way to becoming a Leading Golf Course and to combine sporting quality with scenic uniqueness at the highest level.

Internationally successful partner

This project was implemented in 2024/25 in collaboration with the internationally successful golf architecture firm Olazabal Design. The successful golfer and multiple Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal and the golf course architects Toni Ortner and Snorri Vilhjalmsson are behind this design studio.

Golf experience at the highest level

A central component of the redesign was the consistent optimization of playability. This included the renovation of selected tees, structural adjustments to the fairways and the further development of the safety concept to increase player safety.

At the same time, the entire irrigation system was comprehensively modernized. A newly constructed, large storage pond now ensures resource-conserving and sustainable irrigation of the entire golf course.

Practice area and driving range

A particular highlight is the modern practice facilities, which set new standards.

  • Driving Range

The driving range has been extended to 100 m and now allows drives of up to 300 meters.

  • TRACKMAN Range

Eight TrackMan boxes enable effective and precise practice and analysis and offer a noticeable improvement in training.

  • Short Game Area

A short game area of around 7,000 m² offers plenty of space for practicing the short game. This practice facility, which is almost unique in Austria, helps you to practise your pitch, chip and bunker shots under realistic conditions and optimally prepare for your next round.

New signature hole

As part of the extensive renovation work, hole 5 was completely redesigned and architecturally upgraded. The tee is now in a new position and alignment – with a new direction of play that opens up the view to an impressive panorama: The castle rises directly in front of you, with the majestic Grimming behind it.

This extraordinary Alpine panorama gives the game on hole 5 a very special atmosphere. At the same time, the newly created reservoir also comes into view harmoniously and fits perfectly into the overall picture, both in terms of landscape and play.

The newly designed hole combines a sporting challenge with an impressive natural backdrop – a highlight of the course.

Future-oriented golf course maintenance

Sustainability and active environmental protection are at the heart of all measures on our golf course. A decisive step was taken with the construction of the new storage pond: in future, the entire course can be watered entirely with collected process water. In this way, we are conserving valuable drinking water resources and making a sustainable contribution to the responsible use of nature.

A modern drainage system was installed to ensure the highest quality of play. The newly installed net ensures optimum water drainage, prevents waterlogging and guarantees perfectly playable fairways and perfectly manicured greens all year round.

In addition, we have gained an experienced partner who has raised the maintenance of our golf course to an international level. Professional expertise, innovation and sustainable management go hand in hand – for a playing experience at the highest level.
