Upgrade golf course

On the way to the Leading Course

Numerous improvements implemented

The golf offer in Pichlarn presents itself in a completely new guise. The declared aim: the golf course at IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn is to become a Leading Golf Course. Around 2 million euros were invested to develop the golf course into the Leading Course.
This project was implemented by golf course architects Toni Ortner and Snorri Vilhjalmsson from Olazabal Design, the internationally successful golf design studio of Spanish Ryder Cup icon Jose Maria Olazabal, which was awarded the coveted title of “Designer of the Year worldwide” at the World Golf Awards in 2020.
Below is an overview of the improvements that have been made to our golf course.

Fairway 2 & Fairway 4

The green area on fairway 2 has been redesigned.

On fairway 4, the landing zone in front of the pond was re-modulated, as was the landing zone after the pond.

Lane 5

Fairway 5 was completely renovated. Both the tees and the green. This redesign has created a signature hole for Pichlarn.
With the view from the tee across the pond towards the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn and with the local mountain Grimming in the background, this hole will remain in the memory of every player.

The pond, which was extended for irrigation in 2023, was expanded once again, firstly to provide even more water for the irrigation system and secondly to ensure that the course and water complement each other harmoniously.

Fairway 9

The tees on fairway 9 were moved a little to the southwest.
This made this hole more playable.

Fairway 11 & path between fairways 11 and 12

Fairway 11 was the second fairway, along with fairway 5, to be completely renovated: New tees, including a new back tee, a complete redesign of the fairway and a new green complex with two bunkers significantly improve the playing experience.
The green has been moved about 50 meters towards the tees, while the previous green serves as a sod garden for the greenkeepers.
In addition, the previously long path from hole 11 to hole 12 has been greatly shortened, as it now leads directly up through the forest.

Lane 12

A new back tee was built on hole 12, the entire fairway was widened and reshaped from the landing zone to the green.
This has significantly improved the playability of the course.

Practice area and driving range

One of the biggest changes will be in the driving range area. Currently under construction, the following is being implemented here:

  • Driving Range:
    • The existing driving range buildings will be replaced by new buildings, which will also be realigned. (This is implemented in two stages so that the range is always playable)
    • The range will be realigned in its direction of play and expanded in width. Part of the former forest area will be reforested, the other part will be incorporated into the driving range.
    • TRACKMAN Range: A TrackMan Range is installed. This technique significantly enhances training for anyone who wants to use the range. You can find more information about a TrackMan Range here: https://www.trackman.com/de/golf/range
  • Short Game Area
    • A spacious short game area is being built in the western part of the range – it offers a practice area for the short game that is almost unique in Austria.
